01: What is the Maharajas Express? Who owns it?

Maharaja Express is the latest addition to the fleet of luxury trains in India. It is the only luxury train which takes the guests on a pan-Indian journey. It took its maiden voyage in October 2010. The train is owned by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC) - a Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Railways, India.

02: What are the services that are included in the traffic ?

The tariff of the Maharajas' Express includes cost of travel, accommodation, all meals, water, beverages, house brands of wines, beer and spirits, and sightseeing at the destinations. The tariff also includes entrance fees of monuments, guides, tour managers, still camera fees, and all leisure activities. The tariff however does not include laundry, telephone calls, gratuities, liquors, and alcoholic beverages (apart from house brands of wines, beer, and spirits). Video, films, and professional still camera fees are also excluded from the tariff.

03: Can I smoke onboard the train ?

As per Indian law, smoking is prohibited inside the train as well as in other public places.

04: Can I buy gifts onboard Maharajas' Express ?

Yes, Maharajas' Express has a high-end boutique carriage where you can buy gifts and intimate mementos to cherish your unforgettable journey.

05: How long does the journey take ?

Maharajas' Express India offers a total of 4 pre-packaged, all-inclusive itineraries. Three of them are pan-Indian itineraries spanning over 6 nights/7 days and the other itinerary is golden triangle tours spanning over 3 nights/4 days.

06: Are guides available for journey ?

On all excursions off-train, you will be accompanied by professional guides with in-depth knowledge of the locality. Foreign language speaking guides can also be arranged at additional cost on prior request at the time of booking by the guests.

10: Do I have to pay for lunch ?

No, your booking amount includes the cost of lunch as well as house brands of alcoholic drinks. But you will have to pay for the wines and spirits served at the bar. You can also avail of A la Carte meals and snacks..

11: Are Children Welcome ?

Yes, children are allowed on-board Maharajas’ Express.

12: How much luggage can I bring ?

We request that the guests should carry baggage as per the standards that are set by international airlines. Because of limited storage space, it is recommended that you should carry soft-topped luggage.

13: How soon should the booking be made ?

It is always better that you make the booking as early as possible to avoid any last-minute disappointment, considering the popularity of the train. You should make the bookings 3-4 months before the journey.

14: What is the capacity of the train ?

The train has 23 coaches that can accommodate 88 guests in total. The cabins of the train have been segregated into Deluxe Cabins (20), Junior Suites (18), Suites (4) and Presidential Suite (1). Spacious in size, each cabin is well-equipped with every world-class facility such as WI-Fi, telephone with ISD, attached bathrooms and much more. The train also has a lounge, a bar and 2 dining cars.

15: What kind of cuisines are available on board ?

All Indian, continental, and oriental cuisines are available onboard, but the signature traditional dishes from Indian kitchen steal the limelight.

16: Is there an emergency contact number ?

Yes, all important emergency contact numbers are mentioned on your travel voucher.

17: Is Internet connectivity available on board ?

High-speed Internet access is made available on board. You need to contact the train manager for further details.

18: Is there any arrangement for on board entertainment?

Yes, there are various indoor games such as Chinese Checker, Crossword Puzzle, Chess, Carom Board, and Cards are available onboard. Along with this, each saloon also has a lounge for guests to interact, relax, make friends, get together and play games.

19: Is Laundry service available on the train ?

Laundry service is not included in the train fare. However, it is available in limited at select destinations. You should contact your carriage butler for more details.

20: Can disable people travel on Maharajas’ Express?

The dimensions of the train and its passages do not make it suitable for passengers who are wheelchair-bound. However, passengers with slight walking difficulties can be accommodated. But it is recommended that an able-bodied person should accompany such a passenger. In case of any special requirement, information should be given at the time of booking.

21: Can you arrange my flight ?

If you want we can make arrangements for your flight but its fare will be extra and not included in the fare of the train journey.
